Model 1890 Remington, Single Action Army Revolver, in 44WCF ( 44/40) Cal ),Several Rare & Scarce Variations

This is quite a scarce Model of 1890 from Remington. ONLY 2,020 Model 1890’s were manufactured from 1890 – 1895, with ONLY one made in 1896. In checking Remington research, this 1890, Serial No. 112X was made in 1892. This one is very scarce as it is Factory Blue finish, almost all were nickel plate finish . Additionally, you may find grips in the Factory Checkered Hard Rubber Monogram Pattern, a miniscule amount in Ivory, BUT virtually NONE with Mother of Pearl Grips. This pair would have been fitted to the 1890 by the selling dealer in 1892. Today the grips are radiant with colors of pearl that only age can create . They are in very excellent condition with only a period repair on one corner. This short barrel model was sold as 5-2/2 inch barrels in their literature, BUT the real truth is, every short barrel they made and sold was 5-3/4 inches !!!! They liked to trade on Colt coat tails, so advertised as 5-1/2 inches. This Remington has about 95+% original blue. It has darkened and softened, and some plum color is apparent. All the screw heads are clean, IMPORTANT: the original locking cylinder pin is present including spring. ALL parts are factory original and present. IMPORTANT: the Working Action, cocking, indexing, locking, rotation etc.. and releasing to fire function 100% CORRECTLY. even the factory Lanyard Ring is still with the revolver. This Model marked the end of Remington in the Frontier size revolver business.  An extremely well built revolver, starting with the Model of 1875, then being Altered to the Model of 1888 by Hartley and Graham. Finally the last gasp, the Model of 1890, in the Long Barrel and Short Barrel version. They were Popular on the Frontier with Many celebrities, but never were able to out sell the Colt Single action, Even though it was a heavier stronger revolver.  On the Collector Market Today, the 1890 is Scarce, and the Short Barrel very scarce, with Blue and a Pearl Grips almost impossible to find !!! Yet, here it is for sale, any serious collector of Frontier Arms will note this opportunity.
